Rottnest Island Airport to temporarily close for upgrades
The $4.3 million project, funded by the State Government, will include resurfacing the runway, taxiway, and apron areas to ensure the airport continues to meet national safety standards.
During the closure, the airport will not be accessible to the public or commercial operators. Emergency helicopter services will continue to operate as required.
Ferry services from Perth, Fremantle, and Hillarys will run as normal, and Brand Way (the road servicing the airport) will remain open, with increased construction vehicle movements expected.
These works are part of the Rottnest Island Management Plan 2023–28 and aim to support tourism, improve emergency response capabilities, and maintain safe air access to the island.
