Frequently Asked Questions

The system requires a phone number to be entered with 10 digits. Adding a two-digit area code (i.e. 08) to a landline number creates a 10-digit phone number.

If you do not provide your name in the same format as your DoT registration certificate, you will not be able to be verified as the registered owner of the vessel. You’ll receive an error message and will be unable to submit your application.

The name format is ‘Surname Firstname Middlename’ for personal ownership and can be seen on your vessel registration certificate.

To confirm your name format on your vessel registration certificate log into your DoTDirect account.

For a vessel registered under a company name, please provide the company name as it is shown on your vessel registration certificate or as it is displayed on your DoTDirect account.

If your vessel doesn’t have a name, please enter ‘No name’ into the vessel name field.

Since the Mooring Licensing Portal shares the same platform as several other Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) applications such as ParkStay WA, any changes to your name or email will also change the details of these accounts. You will then need to use your updated email and profile name to log into your other DBCA accounts.

A document can be uploaded as a Word document (.doc or .docx), PDF (.pdf), or an image file (.jpeg or .png). This means you can upload photos of your hardcopy documents, making it simple and easy to attach the required documents to your applications.

You must own a minimum of 25 percent of the vessel you are registering.

To resolve any error messages displayed when completing this field:

  • Amend the vessel percentage, if entered incorrectly; or,

  • Change the details to another vessel of which you own 25 percent or greater

A vessel must only be listed on one account at any one time.

If the vessel is jointly owned, you will need to liaise with the vessel co-owners. A joint owner will need to remove this vessel from their account for you to proceed. If you are the sole owner of the vessel and you believe the vessel is still listed on the account of a previous owner, please contact [email protected] to resolve.

If this error message appears for a vessel currently listed in your permit, then you will need to discard the new application you have created and instead choose the option to amend your current permit/licence.

The vessel details provided on your application must match the registration details recorded with the Department of Transport (DoT).

Ensure all vessel details match those that appear on your DoT vessel registration by logging into your DoTDirect account.

It is important that the field ‘Name as shown on DoT registration papers’ is provided in the same format as on the DoTDirect database e.g. ‘Surname Firstname Middlename’ or company name.

Yes, simply select ‘Save’ and exit. Your application will be held on your dashboard as a draft application until you submit it.
