Main Bus Stop
Overview
Rottnest Island’s main bus stop is undergoing a major transformation to improve accessibility, road safety and to make is easier for visitors to explore the island.
Located at the island’s busiest intersection (Kitson Street, Digby Drive and Brand Way) the precinct has been identified as an area for road safety improvement as part of a Rottnest Island Management Plan initiative.
The redevelopment will include a new bus access road, new shelters, additional seating and decking, a new accessible ramp entrance for the Catholic church and directional signage.

Works will start in early March 2026 and are expected to be completed by late 2026. The project will be staged so that all bus services can continue to operate during construction.

Buses will continue to operate during the works. There will be traffic management signage on site that visitors can follow to find the correct stop for the bus services they require.
Yes. The first stage of the project will include construction of a temporary walkway so people can continue to attend the church. This will be replaced by a fully accessible permanent pathway which will be constructed as part of the project.
